Booking

How do I book Terracotta Army tickets with a passport?

Short answer

Book through the museum's official site or its WeChat channel with your passport, a few days ahead in peak season. Entry is roughly 120 CNY in peak season and the passport you booked with is what you show at the gate. The site is outside Xi'an, so allow a half day door to door.

Getting there from Xi'an

The museum sits east of the city. Tourist buses run from the railway station area, and a car saves about an hour each way. Most visitors combine it with the city wall or the Muslim Quarter on the same day.

How long to allow

Two to three hours on site is comfortable. Pit 1 is the largest; the bronze chariots in the exhibition hall are the part people skip and then regret.

Related questions

Do I need a guide?

Not required, but the site makes far more sense with context. Audio guides are available at the entrance in English.

Can I buy on the day?

Usually yes outside holidays, but real-name limits apply in peak periods. Book ahead if you are travelling in summer or during a public holiday.

Is it the same ticket as the tomb mound?

The ticket covers the museum site including the mound area; check what is open on your date, as excavation areas rotate.
