Fully online real-name booking with separate morning/afternoon sessions and capacity caps; official channels release tickets 14 days ahead. A passport works for the entire online booking flow — foreign visitors should pick the morning session (giant pandas prefer cool weather and are most active early in the day).
What you need to know
- Booking is fully online and real-name: all visitors must book online and enter with the original ID document used at booking — one document, one ticket per person. Seniors aged 60+ and children under 6 years or under 1.3 m tall enter with an original ID document and no reservation.
- Tickets go on sale 14 days ahead and same-day sales stop once sold out; the daily cap is 85,000 visitors. Holiday quotas are tight — book the moment tickets are released.
- Two sessions per day: March–October, morning tickets enter 7:30–12:00 and afternoon tickets 12:00–17:00 (grounds clear at 18:00); November–February, morning 8:00–12:00 and afternoon 12:00–16:30 (grounds clear at 17:30).
- The park is open year-round with no full-park closure days; Panda Enclosure No. 6 is trialing a rotation schedule and closes every Monday (except public holidays), and the Panda Art Museum also closes on Mondays.
- Official guidance: giant pandas are naturally suited to cool weather and avoid heat; in hot hours they are guided into shaded areas or indoor houses. Your best odds of outdoor viewing are the cool morning hours — the afternoon session is mostly indoor viewing.
- Adult ticket CNY 55, student ticket CNY 27, individual annual pass CNY 168/year; tickets are valid for the Chengdu Panda Base only and do not cover the Dujiangyan Panda Valley.
- Foreign visitors enter their passport number when booking; at entry, bring the original passport and use the manual (no-ID) ticket check lane for verification. Chinese ID cards and foreign permanent-resident ID cards go through the card-scan lane.
- Unused tickets can be refunded free of charge through the original purchase channel before 17:00 on the visit day (rule in effect since 2026-08-27); the base strictly prohibits third-party ticket sales and any paid 'fast entry' services.

🏛️ Wuhou Shrine & Du Fu Thatched Cottage
A model of real-name museum booking: the official website / WeChat account releases tickets 14 days ahead and authorizes no third parties. A passport works for online ticket purchase; if you cannot pay online, use the on-site windows.
What you need to know
- Wuhou Shrine: 09:00–18:00 (last entry 17:00), open year-round with no fixed closure day; full fare CNY 50 / half fare CNY 25 / annual pass CNY 100.
- Wuhou Shrine: tickets are released 14 days ahead, and one ID document can book only 1 ticket per visit day; the official website states plainly that it has never authorized any organization or individual to sell tickets online.
- Wuhou Shrine: online payment accepts WeChat Pay/Alipay only; foreign visitors who cannot pay online can buy tickets with cash at the comprehensive service window by the main gate using their passport (window open 9:00–18:00).
- Wuhou Shrine: visitors who bought online with a passport enter by scanning the order QR code (or the QR code in the confirmation email) at the South Gate ticket check.
- Du Fu Thatched Cottage: 9:00–18:00 (ticket sales stop 17:00), open year-round; extended hours (8:30–18:30) run during the May Day holiday, summer peak, and National Day holiday — follow official announcements.
- Du Fu Thatched Cottage: buy real-name tickets 14 days ahead via the 「杜甫草堂博物馆」 (Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum) WeChat service account; visitors with a Chinese ID card scan the original at entry, while anyone without an original ID card (including foreign visitors with passports) exchanges the order for a paper ticket at the ticket window.
- Du Fu Thatched Cottage: seniors over 60 holding a foreign permanent-resident card and foreign children under 6 can exchange the original passport/permanent-resident card for a free ticket; foreign minors aged 6–18 get half price.
- Both sites open as usual on Mondays — the 'closed on Mondays' convention does not apply to Chengdu's heritage museums; only a few individual exhibition halls rotate rest days.

ℹ️ General Booking Rules in Chengdu
Chengdu's top attractions run on two mechanisms: real-name booking plus official channels only. Heritage museums accept only the official website/WeChat account, while the Panda Base also publishes an official list of authorized OTAs (including the international channel Trip.com).
What you need to know
- The Panda Base, Wuhou Shrine, and Du Fu Thatched Cottage all release tickets 14 days ahead (all three official pages agree); holiday slots are tight, so book the moment tickets open.
- One document, one ticket: a single ID document can book only 1 ticket per visit day (stated explicitly by the Panda Base and Wuhou Shrine), and you must carry the original document used at booking to enter.
- Payment differences: the museums accept WeChat Pay/Alipay online only, so foreign visitors without Chinese payment methods buy tickets with cash at on-site windows (officially supported at Wuhou Shrine); the Panda Base has broader online channels, and its authorized platforms include Trip.com's international site.
- All three have an on-site fallback: the Panda Base's offline windows (when tickets remain), Wuhou Shrine's cash window, and Du Fu Thatched Cottage's paper-ticket exchange — if your passport won't work in the online system, look for the comprehensive service window first.
- Museums are open year-round with no fixed closure days — the 'closed on Mondays' convention does not apply to Chengdu's heritage museums; the Panda Base is open all year but Enclosure No. 6 rests every Monday.
- Every official page states that third-party ticket sales are not authorized; don't trust scalper 'no-reservation/fast-lane' services — the market-regulation complaint hotline is 12315.
